EcoverOrdinary detergents and cleaning products contain harmful ingredients such as optical brighteners, synthetic fragrances and genetically modified enzymes. Traces of these substances attach themselves to textiles during washing. This means that our skin is constantly coming into contact with these chemical substances via our clothes and bedding and the chances of suffering from skin irritation and allergies are significantly increased. One of the selection criteria which Ecover use when selecting raw materials is that the ingredients must not fasten to textiles. Ecover thus minimises the chances of skin irritation and allergies. Ecover's consumer feedback has shown that much skin irritation and occasionally even allergic complaints disappear when people switch to Ecover products. Optical brighteners are found in most ordinary detergents and attach themselves to the laundry during the wash. They are synthetic substances which make the wash appear whiter than it actually is.
