Celebrating the Organic Movement
23 August 2007
To celebrate everything organic, Natures Corner, Newbury's independent health food store, is offering a huge variety of tasters and advice during Organic Fortnight 1-16 September.
'Consumers are taking more of an interest in where their products come from and how they are grown, which has led over the last decade to rapid growth in demand for high quality organic products' says Liz Chandler, co-owner of Natures Corner.
The theme for the fortnight is 'Wake Up to an Organic Breakfast' which gives everybody an opportunity to try organic breakfast cereals, fruit bars, rice milk and even an organic chicory drink completely free of charge. Others goodies to tempt the taste buds are exotic dried mango and papaya, banana and strawberry milk shakes, blueberry smoothies, nut butters and chocolate brownies.
Liz's sister, Caroline Withers, combines a busy lifestyle looking after her four year old son with running the health store and reflects that 'these days, mums are more concerned about the food their children eat than ever before'. She, of course, has first hand experience and says that 'Benjamin just loves all varieties of the organic milk shakes'.
The sisters have also noticed an increased interest in ingredients for bodycare products and are able to offer natural and organic ranges for babies, children and adults. During the fortnight, skincare specialists will be available to talk to mums and dads about their children's skincare, hair care and oral care.
'Things have certainly come a long way since the first organic store, Wholefood, opened in Baker Street, London in 1960', says Liz. 'Now nearly one in three shoppers actively seek organic products'.
To join in the celebration of all things organic, why not visit Natures Corner during Organic Fortnight? You may be very pleasantly surprised at what you find.
