Newbury inspired by international naturopath
4 October 2005
Over 100 people were enthralled by a healthy living talk given in Newbury last week by world-renowned naturopath, author and broadcaster, Jan de Vries.
In a special lecture organised by Natures Corner, Newbury's largest healthfood shop, and herbal medicine supplier Bioforce, Jan de Vries spoke of the harmony of health, the disharmony of illness and the importance of treating three bodies – the physical, mental and emotional. He gave easy-to-follow advice on maintaining health and well-being through a holistic approach to living in the twenty-first century.
"Jan de Vries' message was crystal clear," said Liz Chandler, co-owner of Natures Corner. "The packed audience paid rapt attention and were buzzing with excitement after the event. Jan sold 75 of his books – which must be some kind of record and is certainly testament to the credibility of the message from this gentle and charismatic man."
Ann Walkers of Newbury enthused about the evening: "I was privileged to be at Jan de Vries' talk. I found the whole evening very uplifting and inspiring. He is a special person and his talk filled me with hope for the future and that there is someone who cares very deeply about people's wellbeing. I do hope he returns very soon."
Emma Smith, a regular Natures Corner shopper, hoped for more events like this: "It is great to have such a fantastic event in Newbury. Jan de Vries is an exceptional speaker and I think everyone gained important knowledge from the evening. Thank you Natures Corner!"
Jan de Vries was delighted with the audience response and told Liz Chandler and Caroline Withers of Natures Corner that they clearly have very special customers. Before he left he presented them with a 'quaich' – a Scottish cup of lasting friendship.
Macmillan Cancer Relief also benefitted from the talk and will receive a cheque for £677 representing the admission fees for the talk.
