Natures Corner staff try for an all-Organic Monday
13 September 2005
National Organic Week celebrated at Newbury's premier health food and healthcare shop
The staff at Natures Corner have pledged to eat only organic produce on Organic Monday 5 September 2005 as part of the shop's celebration of National Organic Week. All staff are keen advocates of natural and organic produce, so with the increasing availability of organic food, they are confident they will enjoy their Organic Monday dining.
Throughout Organic Week (5-11 September 2005), Natures Corner will be promoting organic produce with special offers and tastings.
"Each year we celebrate national Organic Week by inviting suppliers of top organic products to come and talk to customers in our shop," explained Liz Chandler, co-owner of Natures Corner. "It's a bit like an in-shop tea party - lots of customers come in to talk about their favourite organic food and health care tips and to try something new."
On Organic Monday, for example, Gail Dunsbee of Hempish launched two new hemp-oil-based pasta and salad dressings and encouraged Natures Corner shoppers to try them as well as her new hemp oil skin lotion, Food for the Skin.
Gail Dunsbee explained: "Organic Week gives us a great opportunity to highlight the availability of organic produce. As a former employee of Natures Corner, I became really interested in hemp because of its environmental and health-giving qualities and so I set up Hempish to focus on the product. Hemp is a really unusual crop because it grows so quickly, maturing in just 90 days, and has so few pests that few growers even think of applying pesticides to the crop. Hemp is probably the most versatile crop in the world. Hemp provides complete protein nutrition and has the oils essential to life in a perfect ratio for human health and vitality."
Amongst the many guests during the week will be John McLaren who on Thursday 8th will bring samples of Riverford's organic food and veg box home delivery and explain how simple it is to sign up for a one-off, weekly or fortnightly doorstep delivery of organic food. On Tuesday 6th Gillian McKeith's company will offering tastings of Living Food Energy powder and bars. On Friday 9th Kay Summers from Green People will share skincare advice and have special offers on its new sensitive range.
