Natures Corner moves to wide open spaces - three doors down
Much larger ground-floor area makes store more accessible to growing number of customers
1 June 2006
Natures Corner, Newbury's largest healthfood shop has just become even bigger. Over the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend, the store moved just three doors away - to 12 Bartholomew Street - and has gained lots more ground-floor space and become much more accessible to all customers. Natures Corner is retaining its original premises for a new retail outlet to be opened later this year.
"Our move has been made possible by the terrific support of Newbury shoppers," said Caroline Withers, co-owner of Natures Corner. "As our business has expanded and become more popular we've felt more and more cramped. The new shop gives us lots more room and because it is mostly on the ground floor it is more accessible to lots of our customers. There is even space for a new treatment room for our complementary therapy sessions. We are thrilled to have found such good premises so close to our original store."
Stiltwalkers Pip and Pop will be overseeing the official opening on Saturday 3 June.
As a treat for customers, Natures Corner will host a happy hour for ice cream fans each lunchtime for one week from Saturday 3 June. There will be a free Green and Blacks organic ice cream for the first 20 customers after 1pm, and until 2pm the Green and Black ice creams will be offered at a discount. "Even if this damp spring weather continues, we're sure the Natures Corner ice cream happy hour will bring a ray or two of sunshine into the shopping days," said Caroline Withers.
Since opening Natures Corner in 1999, co-owners Caroline Withers and Liz Chandler have won many health industry awards and this year won the highly prestigious Thames Valley Small Business Award. Apart from its own success, Natures Corner has also established Newbury as host to the UK's largest consumer health products expo.
Looking to the future, Liz said: "We are retaining our previous shop premises to create something that Caroline and I have dreamt of almost since we opened Natures Corner itself. It will be a retail food outlet and will bring quite a few treats and surprises. It will certainly appeal to most of existing customers and attract lots of new ones. We expect to open it in early autumn."
