NewsNewbury store owner wins National Retail Personality AwardLiz Chandler, co-owner of Natures Corner, has been named National Retail Personality of the Year 2007 by manufacturers and wholesalers within the Health Food Industry at the National Health Store Conference. Chairman of the National Association of Health Stores, John McKee, commented: "The simplest way of summing up Liz Chandler is to say that she is an irrepressible and remarkable force of nature." Criteria for the award included ethical business values, community involvement, raising standards within the industry, innovation, campaigning edge and a track record of making a real difference. Jim Manson, Editor of Natural Products magazine, said "Liz is an amazingly energetic person with a genuine passion for the natural products industry. As well as being an innovative and successful retailer, she is also a champion of high quality training in the health food trade which is reflected in the knowledgeable and friendly service you receive from all the staff in her own store, Natures Corner." Reflecting on the Award, Liz said: "I've been bowled over by the high praise I've received from fellow retailers as well as suppliers and manufacturers. My time within this fantastic industry continues to be an amazing journey." Since opening Natures Corner in 1999, sisters Caroline Withers and Liz Chandler have received many health industry awards including the prestigious Thames Valley Small Business Award. The National Retail Personality Award is the first to recognise Liz's work both within the community and within the health food sector. Some of the community projects in which Liz is involved include Ladies Day at Newbury Racecourse, the Food at the Fringe Festival, Newbury Town Centre's Christmas festivities, the Newbury Weekly News Charity Fashion Show, and numerous fetes and food festivals.
