Detoxification

A good detoxification programme should include stimulating the eliminative organs (bowel, liver and biliary tract, kidneys, lymph and reticuloendothelial systems, lungs and skin), in a functional, supportive and regenerative manner.

It's helpful to remove all foods containing wheat, dairy and sugar and replace them instead with healthy rice noodles, vegetable soups, cereals, oatbran and rye breads.

Drink plenty of fluids, especially water and herbal teas such as camomile, fennel and peppermint which all soothe and aid digestion. Avoid tea, coffee or sugary cold drinks. Herbs such as milk thistle, psyllium seed, dandelion, kelp and spirulina, together with a good multivitamin and mineral and essential fatty acids, will ensure that the body is still getting all the nutrients it needs.

Any serious detox or cleansing programme can trigger a healing crisis, which can range from headaches to flu like symptoms, as the body flushes out damaging toxins.
